How to Have Time Freedom - Right Now! Part 3 of 4

In Part 1 and 2 of this four part series we discussed the importance of clearly defining what you want in your life and then, using the list of what you want, we created a plan to help you have it.

STEP 1: Clearly define what you want in your life.

STEP 2: Create a plan for having what you want.

STEP 3: Relax and allow synchronicities to happen.

Freedom is a state of mind experienced when we relax.

In his excellent book, Getting Things Done: The Art of Stress-Free Productivity, David Allen, sums it up when he says, “Our ability to be productive is directly proportional to our ability to relax. Only when our minds are clear and our thoughts are organized can we achieve stress-free productivity and unleash our creative potential.”

Clarity allows you to relax.

Defining exactly what you want and what it will take to have it provides the clarity of mind that allows you to relax. It’s in the stressful state of confusion that we spend our time running from one activity to another without specific direction.

Taking the time to reach this level of clarity will ultimately be the best use of your time. From this relaxed state of clarity, it will become obvious what moment to moment activity will best move you toward the life you seek to create and the time freedom to enjoy it.

In his insightful book, Synchronicity: The Inner Path of Leadership, Joseph Jaworski shares that the best advice about life he ever received was from David Bohm, the well-known physicist, who told him “Just go with it. You cannot be fixed in how you’re going about it any more than you would be fixed if you were setting about to paint a great work of art. Be alert, be self-aware, so that when opportunity presents itself, you can actually rise to it.”

Become aware of where you are in relation to where you want to be.

The information you’ve gathered thus far is meant to make you aware of where you are in relation to where you want to be. This is not just a “to do list” but also an exercise in getting very clear about what you want and what you are willing to do to have it.

You may notice, upon closer inspection, that you already have much of what you seek. You may also notice that you don’t want some of the things you thought you wanted or you’re not willing to do what you believe it will take to make it a reality. Going through this process can save you a lot of time and anguish.

Synchronicities happen when you decide what you want!

One thing is certain, once you decide exactly what you want; things start to happen to bring what you want into your life. Synchronicities happen!

As Jaworski explains in Synchronicity, “Arthur Koestler, paraphrasing Jung, defines “synchronicity” as “the seemingly accidental meeting of two unrelated causal chains in a coincidental event which appears both highly improbable and highly significant.” The people who come to you are the very people you need in relation to your commitment. Doors open, a sense of flow develops, and you find you are acting in a coherent field of people who may not even be aware of one another. You are not acting individually any longer, but out of the unfolding generative order. This is the unbroken wholeness of the implicate order out of which seemingly discrete events take place. At this point, your life becomes a series of predictable miracles.”

Be happy! It’s a choice.

Life is more about being than doing. How we experience time is a matter of what we are being while we are doing. We’ve all experienced the way time drags when we’re not enjoying what we’re doing and flies when we’re having fun (i.e. being happy).

Decide what you want and allow yourself to be happy while you’re doing what it takes to create what you want. It’s a choice. You decide!

In the fourth, and last, part of this series, we will discuss simple techniques that can give you more time freedom.
